SEAHORSES:
the teaching section of
Epsom District Swimming Club for children aged 4+


All our teachers are ASA qualified and we have helpers in the water for the non-swimmers.


In recent years, many of our "Seahorses" have gone on to become County Champions.

SWIMMING LESSON TIMES & LOCATIONS

Fridays

6.15 - 9.15pm

Sundays
Downsend School
3.00 - 5.00pm

On both days we have a full range of groups

ROUTE:

Ducklings

Aim: Playful games to help develop basic water confidence

  • Swimming Aids will be used - 30 min lesson
  • Approx: NTP Level 1
Beginners 1

Aim: Fun Activities that help develop water skills.

  • Swimming Aids may be used - 30 min lesson
  • Approx: NTP Level 1 & 2
Beginners 2

Aim: Exciting lessons to learn advanced water skills & basic strokes.

  • Aids maybe used, swimming widths - 30 min lesson
  • Approx: NTP Level 2 & 3
Improvers 1

Aim: Progression of strokes to include basic breathing.  

  • Widths and - 30 min lesson
  • Approx: NTP Level 4 -5
Improvers 2

Aim: Improving breathing and timing of all strokes

  • Lengths 30 min lesson
  • Approx NTP Level 5
Advanced

Aim: Introduction of competitive turns and starts.

  • Lengths - 30 min lesson
  • Approx NTP Level 5 & 6
Development Squad (1 hour lesson)

Aim: To prepare swimmers for Club Swimming, comprehensive technique development for all four competitive strokes.
This will include: starts, turns and the laws of swimming. 

Competition Squad (Main Club) OR Junior Club Squad
At this stage swimmers can choose to enter the competitive squads in the main club or continue to develop their swimming in a non-competitive environment.

Junior Club Squad:
The Junior Club Squad provides a 1hour session for swimmers who are either trying to progress to EDSC Competitive Squads or have decided that they do not wish to go down the competitive route, but would like to carry on improving their swimming.
