Volunteer

CAN YOU HELP?

EDSC relies heavily upon a dedicated volunteer workforce comprised of swimmers and their relatives who see that the club functions efficiently for the benefit of all of its members. It is impossible for the Club to operate without the help of these volunteers and it would cease to exist.

There are many ways in which you can get involved and make a real difference and it makes a rewarding change from sitting watching every session. We welcome help from anyone within the club who can offer a commitment to a regular role with defined responsibilities, as well as from people who wish to help but are unable to take on a full role and would prefer to "muck in" where needed on a more ad hoc basis.
Unfortunately, as we are all Volunteers (apart from the coaches) we get it wrong, but before you criticise us please take into account that we are giving up our time selflessly and in good faith and are doing the best we can. Come and improve on what is already being done.
Anybody can become a volunteer. Each individual has a wealth of skills, attributes and experience that can be used in running the club. As well as the jobs involved with running the championships and galas (see below) we always need help with various other administrative and practical tasks. Some of these are ‘one offs’ some are on an ongoing basis.
You can give as little or as much time as you feel you can.
You do not need any qualifications or any technical knowledge of swimming. However, if you decide to become more involved, the Club can arrange for you to take courses for judging and time keeping.
Volunteering is a good way of getting to know the swimmers and other parents.
CRB checks are required for certain roles but you do not need to have been CRB checked to volunteer. Remember checks are to safeguard volunteers as well as the swimmers.
If you are interested in getting involved, to apply for any of the currently advertised roles, or to suggest other help that you could offer, please email the Club Chairman or Club Secretary, stating which position you are interested in. If you would like to speak to someone about a specific role or generally, please include your telephone number and the best times to contact you. Please don’t wait to be asked, help share the work load.

Please Get Involved, It’s FUN!! All Our Swimmers Need Your Help!!
